Gender equality and women’s empowerment are central to economic development, environmental sustainability and achieving the SDGs. Yet, evidence shows that gender inequalities have recently increased as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, the environmental emergency continues to drain livelihoods often affecting men and women differently. These parallel crises call for urgent action and an integrated policy approach to tackle them.
This event will review emerging OECD work on the gender-environment nexus in the context of Agenda 2030. Panellists will discuss evidence and potential solutions to address the gender dimension of environmental challenges, and leverage the economic opportunities of the green transition for women.
We are pleased to invite you to the virtual launch event of the OECD report “Gender and the Environment: Building Evidence and Policies to Achieve the SDGs”, which will take place via Zoom on 21 May 2021, 12:00 – 13:15 CEST.
