Despite 20+ years of UN Security Council Resolution (UNSC) 1325, and continued discussions of the Women Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, many implementing the agenda still has a limited perspective of the relevant to queer and trans communitites. The newly developed toolkit challenges the limited heteronormative understanding of how gender matters to securing peace by prioritizing the experiences of the queer and trans community, including lesbian, bisexual and transgender women.

Each chapter provides guidance on best practices for implementation, monitoring, service, design and funding for LGBTQ organizations wanting to engage with the Women, Peace and Security agenda. This event will include an overview of the toolkit by the researchers who developed, who will also provide insights into how this resource is relevant to LGBTQ organizations working in conflict-affected contexts today.
