Climate Change, the construction industry, and women form a special relationship that demands a clear course of action to mitigate and reduce the impact of climate events on women and families. Current research most often focuses on the impacts of climate change on women in rural and low population density environments.
Today, more than ever, there is a need to increase awareness of climate events on women living in high density urban environments, such as New York City. This session gathers professionals in the built environment, building trades, labor relations and health sectors to examine the consequences that climate change has on more vulnerable populations such as women and families. NGOs, especially those in the construction and built environment sectors, can play a significant role to increase awareness of the issues, develop practical solutions, and create measurable change, especially in high density urban environments such as New York City.
