Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is one of the most oppressive forms of gender inequality and stands as a fundamental barrier to equal participation of women and men in social, economic, and political spheres. Women who are trying to gain access to land and property rights face a high risk of intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual extortion. While all women are at risk of IPV, new evidence shows that women and girls with disabilities are at two to four times higher risk of IPV than women without disability. This session will provide a broad introduction of the VAWG resource guide and explore the intersections of VAWG with disability, social inclusion, and land programs. The event will feature talks by experts in these fields, as well as an interactive panel discussion on how to use and integrate the VAWG resource guide into project design and operations.
