Women as Climate Justice Champions: International Women's Day 2020

This International Women's Day event will headline Dr. Tererai Trent, one of today’s most internationally recognized voices for quality education and women’s empowerment. Distinguished as Oprah Winfrey’s “All-Time Favorite Guest,” Dr. Trent is a scholar, humanitarian, motivational speaker, educator, author, and the founder of Tererai Trent International, which aims to provide quality education in rural Africa. Her new book, The Awakened Woman: Remembering & Reigniting Our Sacred Dreams, has a foreword by Oprah Winfrey and was the Winner of a 2017 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work.

Speakers also include Dr. Laly Lichtenfeld, Co-Founder and CEO of African People & Wildlife, a nonprofit that helps rural communities in Tanzania conserve and benefit from their wildlife and natural resources. Dr. Lichtenfeld believes in finding the balance for communities and nature. In 2019, she was honored to be named a “Woman of Impact” by the National Geographic Society and was featured among the world’s leading female visionaries.
