UNDP, UN Women and OECD are jointly organizing a webinar to take a closer look at governments’ investments in gender equality and women’s economic empowerment as a result of COVID-19 and to consider the implications for future policy. The webinar will discuss the role of the private sector and civil society organisations as supporters and beneficiaries for a gender responsive economic recovery process.

The webinar will highlight the intensity of the economic impact of the crisis on women in public and private sectors and look at how different countries have taken into account the gender equality perspective in their post-COVID19 economic recovery plans, including in the fiscal stimulus packages. There will be policy makers, CSOs and private sector representatives to discuss and contribute to the ideas for future gender responsive policy.

The webinar will be a good opportunity to analyze current crisis on gender equality and women’s economic empowerment, present good examples from countries on tracking or engendering of stimulus packages and recovery plans, and it will help to set of key policy recommendations for addressing the negative impact of the outbreak on women and girls from employment loss and income insecurity to the increase in unpaid care work. Also, it will offer suggestions on post-COVID-19 policies targeting women in different sectors.
