Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated 10-year work experience relating to the application of environmental and social safeguards, gender and stakeholder engagement for projects financed by the GEF and/or multilateral development institutions
- Extensive knowledge of gender and both environmental and social safeguards systems of multilateral development banks and UN Agencies
- Understanding of client perspective of Gender, and Environmental and Social Safeguards
- Ability to communicate fluently, both in writing and orally, in English
- Excellent drafting skills, strong operational and analytical skills, and an ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
- An advanced university degree related to economic and social development, environmental protection, or economics
Key Tasks:
- Conduct a thorough review of CI’s draft Updated Environmental Social Management Framework including gender and stakeholder engagement, guidance documents such as the Safeguard Screening Form, Safeguard Plan templates, and the design of the ESMF including process and procedures to identify gaps and ensure compliance with both the GEF and GCF policies.
- Update the draft Updated Environmental Social Management Framework including gender and stakeholder engagement document to address any gaps identified.
- Facilitate an internal (CI divisions) consultation on the draft document and incorporate/address comments from the consultations.
- Review the CI-GEF/GCF Agency’s ESMF design including the process for screening, categorization, implementing and monitoring safeguards for CI-GEF and GCF projects, and make recommendations as necessary.
