SEED Foundation in coordination with Salaheddin University’s social work department is currently implementing the ‘Protecting and Empowering Survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI)’ program. This program is supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The aim of the program is to build the next generation of social workers in the KRI by equipping undergraduate students in social work with the knowledge and skills to support vulnerable people, including survivors of GBV and those at risk and to better prepare social work graduates for employment.
Following completion of an assessment for the social work department, SEED’s technical experts will work closely with faculty at Salahuddin University to strengthen the curriculum through the development of additional content, including gender, gender equality, gender-based violence (GBV), and psychosocial support, and adapting global resources to the local context and needs.
Objective of Consultancy:
SEED seeks an expert experienced in gender and GBV to strengthen the quality and relevance of the gender and GBV courses that the undergraduate social work students are taught, to increase their preparedness to enter the workforce and support clients in a survivor-centered way. This will include reviewing the existing materials within the gender courses, revising and improving existing material and adding new content. The expert will also be responsible for creating a new course on GBV, with an emphasis on working with LGBTQI+ individuals.
The expert will work in close collaboration with the existing gender social work instructor and will provide a comprehensive overview of the new content to this faculty member. Furthermore, the expert will provide training to all faculty on the new content, to improve their ability to integrate content about gender and GBV into their courses.
