The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is determined to protect the people it serves and staff from of safeguarding violations, including sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment. In accordance with these values, the IRC operates and enforces its safeguarding policies to protect adult and child clients from any form of exploitation and abuse, including sexual exploitation and abuse, and its staff from sexual harassment and violence. Where misconduct is alleged, IRC follows a Zero tolerance approach and takes all necessary actions and corrective measures. IRC investigation unit comprises of experts and trained investigators that ensures professional survivor-centered investigations are conducted if allegations of safeguarding violations are reported through the safe and accessible reporting channels that IRC makes available to its staff, partners, and clients. IRC is an active member of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) set-up in Ukraine.
The Role
The Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) case worker will provide direct support and case management to at-risk women and girls as part of the WPE team, specifically the WPE case worker will be responsible for:
- Reinforce adherence to the GBV guiding principles and survivor-centred support throughout all activities. This includes ensuring confidentiality of survivors and respect for their wishes and decisions.
- Provide age-appropriate case management, including assessment of women and adolescent girl's needs; provide basic crisis counselling and safe, confidential and appropriate referrals in line with the GBV referral pathways
- Work in close, daily collaboration with the IRC sectors to ensure women and girls have safe, discrete and confidential access to services via the internal referral procedures
- Work with the WPE team to ensure the response to the evolving needs of clients and their communities
- Identify concerns related to and support adherence to GBV referral protocols and GBV guiding principles, and bring these concerns to the WPE Response Officer
- Maintain effective working relationships with relevant partners, including community leaders and other implementing partners
- Complete monthly activity reports, according to the mentorship provided by the WPE Response Officer
Requirements:
- Language: Ukrainian required; if possible, English
- Studies in psychology, gender or women’s studies, social work or other relevant/related studies, and /or professional experience in counselling and implementing activities for women and girls, desirable
- Experience with provide direct support (basic counselling, case management, PSS) with women and girls, including survivors of GBV; previous training in these areas strongly preferred
- Clear understanding of and interest in the well-being of women and girls, and supporting their healing after the experience of violence
- Ability to respond to emergencies when needed and support WPE team in providing any kind of support and distributing kits when needed
- Experience facilitating group activities, trainings and workshops and mentoring others
- Clear understanding of, and interest in, violence against women and girls, the well-being of women and girls, supporting their healing after the experience of violence, human rights, and gender
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients/beneficiaries
- Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel
