Climate Policy Initiative
View Original
CPI is an analysis and advisory organization with deep expertise in finance and policy. Its mission is to help governments, businesses, and financial institutions drive economic growth while addressing climate change. CPI has six offices around the world in Brazil, India, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and the United States (San Francisco and Washington D.C).
CPI has over a decade of experience on climate finance effectiveness and tracking, and working to develop bankable solutions and address the investment pipeline risks since 2014. CPI manages the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (The Lab) and the Catalytic Climate Finance Facility (CC Facility), two accelerator programs addressing market barriers to unlock sustainable investments to tackle climate challenges. The Lab helps turn ideas into actions, developing concrete mechanisms that are ready for the market, and the CC Facility supports the market roll-out of these solutions towards scalability. Each program targets a critical valley of death that financial mechanisms face during their development process.
ABOUT THE LAB
The Lab is a public-private partnership developed in 2014 and was born out of the need to drive more private investment to tackle the climate challenge. The Lab is an incubator program that identifies, develops, stress tests, and helps launch innovative financial mechanisms that attract private capital into sectors key to a sustainable economy. In nine years, the Lab has launched 68 instruments, which have collectively mobilized over USD $3.7 billion in climate action and has proven to be a successful model.
ABOUT THE CC FACILITY
The Catalytic Climate Finance Facility (CC Facility) accelerates the implementation of high-impact, ready-to-scale financial structures through a suite of services that include grant funding, technical support, and a market-building learning hub. The CC Facility fills a market gap and reduces market fragmentation to mobilize private capital for climate action in developing economies. The CC Facility is a partnership between CPI and Convergence, who are combining their expertise to turn innovative financial vehicles into scalable solutions, to increase the available investable pipeline and grow the climate finance market.
The CC Facility was launched in May 2023 and will build upon the successful deployment of financial vehicles already supported and incubated by both CPI and Convergence through their flagship programs, the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (The Lab) and Design Funding. Together, these programs have backed over 100 solutions that have since secured close to $6 billion in investments in under 10 years, an achievement unmatched in this early-stage space.

CPI is seeking a talented and motivated individual with expertise in gender equality and climate finance to support the Lab and CC Facility gender integration and mainstreaming work. Activities of this work will contribute not only to uncovering the gaps and needs for gender-responsive climate finance but also build awareness in entrepreneurs and proponents of financial solutions on the value of incorporating a gender lens into their investments and operations.
