Gender and Social Inclusion Lead, The Philippines
ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Gender and Social Inclusion Lead for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Youth Activity in the Philippines. The envisioned activity will work with the Government of the Philippines to improve basic education and life skills for vulnerable youth. The illustrative activity outcomes include: improved literacy, life and employability skills; strengthened local capacity to deliver education and trainings service delivery; and strengthened youth leadership and engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and implementation of the program’s overall strategy for gender and social inclusion, with attention to vulnerable youth, including those affected by conflict, ethnic and indigenous minorities, and youth with disabilities.
- Provide technical advice and trainings to program staff and partners in relation to gender and social inclusion in designing interventions, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Conduct gender and social inclusion analyses, including integration of gender and social inclusion considerations in other planned studies.
- Develop evidence-based gender and social inclusion strategy and action plan.
- Work with the relevant team members to undertake gender and social inclusion capacity assessments of local partner organizations and develop and implement appropriate institutional strengthening initiatives.
- Support the M&E Lead to plan the collection and analysis of relevant data, including collection of Sex-and-Age Disaggregated Data (SADD).
- Write, coordinate, and disseminate lessons learned among team and program partners.
Qualifications
- Degree in gender studies, international development, sociology, or relevant field.
- Minimum seven years of relevant experience working with gender and social inclusion issues in the Philippines.
- In-depth understanding of cultural dynamics between and within ethnic groups, especially in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
- Demonstrated experience with qualitative research methods, including leading gender analysis.
- Experience with USAID and/or any other international donor funded project preferred.
- Cultural sensitivity in dealing with ethnic and religious groups.
- Excellent facilitation skills. Experience in the Philippines required.
