The Role

We are looking for a Gender Project Manager to be responsible for carrying out activities related to the project Naseej: Connecting Voices and Action to End Violence Against Women and Girls in the MENA Region in 2 Governorates in Federal Government of Iraq (Diyala & Anbar). The Gender Project Manager will provide technical support to and close monitoring of the Gender & Partnership Officers and Oxfam implementing partners to ensure program deliverables are achieved and donors’ regulations are respected and documented.

With the support of the Gender Program Manager, the Project Manager will also support WASH, EFSVL and Protection teams in ensuring our interventions are guided by Oxfam's Minimum Standards on Gender in Emergencies, including through safe programming, strong gender analysis and awareness across our humanitarian teams and partners, and meaningful participation of women in the community groups that help us design and evaluate our actions.

What we are looking for 

Our next Gender Project Manager will require:

Essential

  • University/College qualification in the relevant field (e.g. gender studies, social sciences or related discipline).
  • Relevant work experience in the humanitarian or development sector
  • Willingness and fitness to travel and stay in the field for sustained periods of time.
  • Experience of working with/supporting local partners.
  • Experience with running assessments, monitoring and evaluation and other learning efforts.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to cope with high workload.
  • Demonstrated training and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Commitment to a rights-based approach, gender equality and safe programming.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Computer skills.

Desirable

  • Ability to work in multi-cultural team.
  • Willingness to work in insecure environments and a high level of adaptability and initiative.
  • Experience working in the Middle East.
  • Proficiency in Arabic.
