Uganda has made a partial payment of $65 million US Dollars to the DRC government as reparations for war crimes committed by its troops in Eastern DRC between 1998-2003. The Democratic Republic of Congo filed a case against Uganda in 1999 at the International Court of Justice alleging Ugandan troops committed atrocities and stole valuable minerals including gold, diamond and timber.
